Karnataka: Facing boycott, couple threatens to convert to Christianity

A 25-year-old man Somashekhar who married a Dalit woman is being ostracised in Sahyadripura near Lingadahalli. Upset Somashekhar has threatened to convert to Christianity if the village does not lift the boycott. Even the villagers are being threatened with a fine of Rs 5,000. In 2019, Somashekhar, who is from the Uppara caste, married Mahalakshmi, 23, a Dalit girl from Tumakuru. Right-wing activists have now approached the district administration seeking a resolution to the problem.
