Railway commuters hope that there will be no fare increase in the Budget and more high-speed trains to be introduced. Senior citizens, on the other hand, hope that they will get some relief in the form of discounted fares. It may be recalled that the Modi govt has over the years reduced discounts for senior citizens and some other classes of passengers. The dynamic fare that has been introduced in most trains has also led to people having to pay more for their journey.
