Vettel leads Red Bull 1-2 at final Silverstone showdown
NEW DELHI: Yesterday's qualifying session saw some really close action with Sebastian Vettel snatching pole from Barrichello in the dying moments of Q3 while Mark Webber had to settle for third.
The race on Sunday, was a different affair though. The Red Bull RB5 was the fastest car on the grid all weekend - with the aerodynamic updates that Adrian Newey introduced making a huge improvement on the car from the last race.
Vettel was uncatchable all the way from when the lights went green with the German driver lapping as much as over a second faster than Barrichello in the initial stages.
1x1 polls
Mark Webber settled into a rhythm behind the lead Brawn but managed to switch ahead of him coming out of the pitlane after the first round of pitstops.
The order remained unchanged all the way to the chequered flag as Vettel and Webber completed a 1-2 for the Milton Keyes based Red Bull Racing team - a proud moment indeed for both Adrian Newey and Christian Horner.
Jenson Button was off the pace - a sight that the 2009 season hasn't seen thus far. Things started to get a little interesting though as the Brit picked up his pace in the closing stages of the race as his tyres found lost grip putting the pressure on fourth placed Massa, fifth placed Nico Rosberg.
Sadly for Button, that order didn't change till the end - with Massa picking up his best finish of 2009. Jarno Trulli and Kimi Raikkonen picked up the final points of the 2009 British Grand Prix.

Timo Glock and Giancarlo Fisichella were close on Kimi's rear wing bringing up the top ten. Both Force India cars finished the race - great job there by Adrian Sutil who had a massive shunt in qualifying yesterday.
Despite Button's 6th place finish the Championship leader lost only 3 points from his lead on second placed team mate Rubens Barrichello (Button 64, Barrichello 41). More importantly though, Vettel moves up closer to Barrichello with a total of 39 points.
With 9 races to go in 2009, could Vettel upset Button's Championship hopes? Only time will tell, but after today's win, Vettel has put his name up in a historic list of winners at Silverstone - which will grow no longer. All eyes will now focus on what happens of the FIA-FOTA row - whichever way it goes, F1 will never be the same again.
