From experimenting with two voices for Rishi Kapoor to revealing the inspiration behind Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai, a look at Pyarelal’s major revelations in Indian Idol Marathi

Veteran music composer Pyarelal (Laxmikant-Pyarelal) recently appeared on Indian Idol Marathi in which he made a few surprising revelations about his popular Bollywood superhit songs and tunes. Pyarelal had composed music for many Bollywood movies and ruled the roost indeed. Take a look at some shocking revelations he made on Indian Idol Marathi.

Two singers lending voice to one hero

Reminiscing the memories of late Rishi Kapoor’s movie Karz, Pyarelal said, "Nowadays its really common thing that two or three singers are giving their voices to one hero in the film but back in the '80s, it was an impossible thing. One singer would sing for only one hero but we thought to experiment for the first time in Bollywood and it turned out to be the first film that allowed two different singers to sing for one hero. Maine aur Laxmikant Ji ne Mohammad Rafi aur Kishor Kumar se kaha ki aap dono Rishi ji ko aavaj de apni Karz mein aur Rafi ji ne 'Dard E Dil-Dard-E-Jigar' gaaya aur Kishor Kumar Ji ne 'Ek Hasina Thi, Ek Deewana Tha' gaaya aur firr baad mein sabhi ye karne large." About experimenting with new tunes and instruments

Pyarelal said that they have introduced various new sounds for the first time in Bollywood music. They said that many other instruments that were played in various popular songs did not even have names. (PC - Instagram)

A memory of Kaate Nahi Katate from Mr. India

Pyarelal revealed on Indian Idol Marathi that Mr. India's popular song ‘Kaate Nahi Katate’ was originally a powerful yet seducing song but they wanted to add peace and romance too. Initially, it was not possible but they later decided to bring a higher note to 'Lo Aaj main kehta huuuu' lyrics, and to make the song a little romantic he made the last word 'I love you' subtler. Behind Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai

Pyarelal further recalled memories of another popular number Choli Ke Piche Kya Hai and said that he has stolen the tune from a person who would sing 'kukukuku' behind the bungalow of Laxmikant Ji. He said, "Laxmi ji ke ghar se humlog raatko der se nikal rhe the. Dekha toh ek aadmi unke bunglow ke piche ek tune baja rha tha aur 'kukukukuku' aisa bol rha tha. Laxmi Ji ne kaha are ye acha hai Pyare ji hum ise use karenge and we added that 'Kukukuku' in the song Choli Ke Piche. Also later while composing this song we called a person who would play Shehnai and we asked him to play the Shehnai. But he would only play one tune no matter what and we decided to fix the tune in our song. We never knew this song would become so popular." (PC - Instagram)

Charity of Laxmikant-Pyarelal

In the show, Pyarelal made a major revelation adding that they would work with thousands of artists and musicians not only to create a piece of music but to also help them financially. Pyarelal said, "We would work with thousands of musicians at a time. Whether it is a small song or a big song. We would call everyone in the studio because the artists had families and they were dependent on us. We would also pay the musicians for a song even if they don't have work in the song. It's because they had families to feed and they have helped us to create our music. We all would work as a team and it was our duty to help them when they need us." (PC - Instagram)

Ajay-Atul about Laxmikant -Pyarelal

The judges of the show Ajay-Atul told Pyarelal that they feel really unfortunate that today the variation and power of music are missing and Pyarelal agreed with their statement. Atul said, "Pyarelal and Laxmi ji's music had a lot of variation. They have introduced us to various bass, tunes, and sounds but now we don't see such music in the industry. It's really unfortunate.” (PC - Instagram)
