National Award-winning Malayalam actor and director
Salim Kumar has passed away. The 57-year-old was on ventilator support as his health deteriorated on Saturday. The actor had undergone a liver transplant years ago after being diagnosed with liver cirrhosis.
Social media is full of heartfelt tributes to the versatile actor, who had been the face of laughter for Malayalis for decades.
Parasparam actor and politician Vivek Gopan has penned a note on Instagram paying tribute to the late actor.
"Salim Kumar was the laughter and the tears of Malayalam cinema. An artist who made people laugh, made them think, and spoke the truths of life has today bid farewell to us. Through the simplicity of his comedy and the depth of his serious roles, he earned an immortal place in the hearts of Malayalis. The loss of this great artist is an irreparable one for Malayalam cinema. I pray that his soul attains eternal peace in the presence of God. May God grant strength to his grieving family and loved ones to endure this loss. Salim Kumar will live on forever in our memories," reads the translation of his Malayalam note.
Sharing a picture with Salim Kumar, Bigg Boss Malayalam winner Akhil Marar has also penned a note online.
Recalling sharing the screen with the actor in Pakalpooram, actress and former Bigg Boss Malayalam contestant Yamuna also paid tribute to the departed soul.
