Twilight hour for Vivan

Ekta Kapoor is busy sprucing the televised desiversion of The Twilight Saga, a current favourite on Americanscreens.While the American series, based on the adventures of a group of teenage vampires, stars Robert Pattinson as Edward and Kristen Stewart as Bella, Ekta’s show would have Vivan Bhatena play the lead character Abhay. Abhay’s character is based on that of Edward’s.Vivan seems a bit cagey when asked about thisproject. He says, “Yes, I have been approached for theshow,” and when asked if he is keen on taking up the offer, he replieswith a monosyllabic “Yes”. The actor, popular for his chiseled looksis quite a favourite amongst women and is known for his roles in Karthik CallingKarthik, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Chak De India (remember the fictional vicecaptain of the Indian cricket team?). His debut role was however as a childactor in Shekhar Kapur’s 1987 hit Mr India.Ekta Kapoor’sshow was expected to start their shooting schedules early in June, but theprolonged casting has caused a delay.A source in Balaji Telefilmssays, “We had been hunting for a face that would be apt for Abhay’scharacter; the guy has to look dapper and confident.We consideredKunal Verma of Tujh Sang Preet Lagai Sajna and Anuj Sachdeva of Sabki LaadliBebo fame, but things didn’t fall into place with them.VivanBhatena fits the bill perfectly.
