Saath Nibhana Saathiya: Kajal Pisal on her recent solo Spiti expedition; says 'Finding Freedom in the Himalayas'
Actress Kajal Pisal known for featuring in shows like Laxmi Niwas and Jhanak, is now out to explore new places. After her recent trip to Japan, the actress headed to solo trip to Spiti valley.
"There are journeys that take you to a destination, and then there are journeys that change you forever. My recent expedition through Himachal Pradesh was undoubtedly the latter," shares actress Kajal Pisal.
What began as a road trip from Chandigarh soon became one of the most challenging, rewarding experiences of her life. "Driving solo through India’s most rugged mountain terrain wasn’t something I’d ever imagined doing. Yet, between the winding roads of Narkanda, the valleys of Sangla, the barren beauty of Spiti, and the passes leading to Manali, I discovered a version of myself I’d never met," she says.
The route wasn’t easy. "The roads were rough, unpredictable, and often intimidating. Landslides, river crossings, rocky tracks—they tested both me and my vehicle," Kajal recalls. The biggest challenge? The altitude. "At nearly 15,000 feet, the thin air was impossible to ignore. Mountain sickness hit, breathing felt difficult. But I kept saying yes. Yes to the mountains, valleysand to the experience."
What struck her most was the resilience of local communities. "Life at high altitudes is far from easy. Yet there’s warmth, hospitality, and community everywhere. Strangers shared tea and stories, and made me feel like family."
She said she never felt alone during the trip because she made friends with other travellers and discovered cafés serving fresh pizza even in remote areas. "My vehicle became more than transport. It became a partner in endurance and courage," she shared.
Talking about the journey, Kajal adds, "It taught me the value of stepping outside my comfort zone. Challenges often hide our greatest discoveries. This wasn’t just a drive through the Himalayas. It was a journey into resilience, adventure, and self-discovery. If the mountains taught me anything, it’s this: the road less travelled leaves the deepest mark on your soul."
Kajal is also known for featuring in shows like Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, Sirf Tum among others.
