Roadies 19: Former Splitsvilla contestant Gary Lu impressed judges with his inspiring weight loss journey; here’s how he lost 19kgs

One of the audition rounds in Roadies 19 saw the participation of former Splitsvilla contestant Gary Lu. 23-year-old Gary shared his weight loss journey and also impressed the judges with his skills. Here’s a look at how his Roadies 19 audition went, his chiseled transformation and more.

23-year-old Gary Lu is from Dehradun. In the audition, when asked about himself, he said, “I am very disciplined and ambitious. I am a bit self-centred too.” He wrote on social media, “After 8 years of hard work blood sweat and dedication I can finally say I’m a Roadie!!”

I was 94 kgs before and quite fat. I saw myself on mirror and saw a very bad picture of myself. That’s when I decided to flip the switch. Taking to social media, Gary had written about what led to his weight gain and how he transformed from 94 kgs to 75 kgs. Sharing picture from 2nd year of his college, he wrote, “I was partying a lot with my friends and consuming every junk food i could get, Drinking alcohol and not working out at all. Then one day I woke up and looked myself in the mirror and really didn’t like the person I was becoming. So I knew it was time for me to change. SO I DID ! I started working out daily, stopped drinking alcohol, started eating clean and the lockdown came in as a blessing in disguise. The whole lockdown i worked my ass off and changed my mindset and my body.”

He came down to his ideal weight just before participating in Splitsvilla. He wrote, “2 days before going to Splitsvilla . And till then I had completely changed everything. My lifestyle, my daily routine, my eating habits. I was happy and satisfied and that’s when I knew I was focused like never before and I would do anything to achieve my dreams."

Gary said, "I participated in Splitsvilla and didn’t have that much money. I just had Rs 250 in my bank account. I didn’t even have much clothes." Ashneer Grover counters, “How can anyone have Rs 250 in account. Everyone has made a dialogue out of this. In America, people would say and then here they use this dialogue without the dollar conversion.” Gary added, “I was in college. My parents had money but I didn’t take money from them. I wanted to do things on my own.”

Gary impressed the judges by saying, “I can do everything.” Then he went on to show his dance skills, calisthenics, single leg squat, hoola hoop and more. He also recited a poem to impress Rhea Chakraborty.

Gary broke down in tears and said: “I have worked hard. I couldn’t perform to my best in the last reality show. Now I have come to win. This is my chance to prove.” After a bidding session, he went to Prince Narula’s team. As he left, Sonu Sood said, “It was such a good audition and a noticeable one.” Others agree that he is a good boy. Rhea said, “He is a lovely guy.”

Gary Lu was a part of dating reality show Splitsvilla 13 in 2021. He was a student back then but had a short stint in the show. He got in the 10th place. Gary has come back in Roadies with a fighting spirit to win the title.
