Reva Kaurase: Viewers recognise meaningful storytelling over shock value
Reva Kaurase is keen to explore the OTT space and take on characters with emotional depth and strong arcs. The actress believes streaming platforms have expanded opportunities for nuanced storytelling and says meaningful content, backed by consent and professionalism, is the way forward for the industry.
After being part of projects such as Deewaniyat and Pyaar Ka Pehla Adhyay: Shiv Shakti, and making a wildcard entry into Bigg Boss Marathi Season 6, Reva Kaurase is now looking towards the OTT space for her next creative challenge.Reva says, “OTT has completely changed the game. It has opened doors for fresh narratives, strong characters and content that goes beyond traditional formats. The best part about OTT is that audiences are now celebrating flawed and real characters instead of only perfect heroes. That gives actors much more creative freedom. I genuinely feel the next phase of entertainment belongs to actors who are willing to take risks and break stereotypes. I would love to explore projects where the character has emotional depth and a strong journey because those roles stay with people for a long time.” Askher about bold content in today’s storytelling landscape and she replies, “Boldness should always serve the story, not exist just for the sake of it. If a scene is meaningful, justified and adds value to the narrative, I’m open to exploring it as an actor. But it has to be handled sensitively and aesthetically.
Today’s audiences are mature enough to understand the difference between meaningful storytelling and unnecessary shock value. At the end of the day, I want people to remember the performance and emotions behind a scene, not just the boldness attached to it.”On maintaining personal and professional boundaries, she says, “I believe in having open discussions before taking up any project about the script, scenes and expectations. My comfort and consent matter, and I don’t compromise on that. At the same time, I’m committed to my craft, so I try to strike a balance where I can push myself as an actor while still respecting my personal boundaries. The industry is evolving in a very healthy way because conversations around consent, comfort and professionalism are becoming more open and respected. Earlier, actors often hesitated to speak up, but today it’s important to communicate honestly. When an artiste feels safe and respected on set, the performance automatically becomes more powerful.”
