I’ve done 21 films, but the kind of recognition I got on TV was unmatched: Madalsa Sharma
Madalsa Sharma, best known for her portrayal of Kavya in Anupamaa, quit the popular TV show last year. In a candid chat, she opened up about stepping away from the daily grind of television and what lies ahead.
She said, “When you’re doing a show for four years, the body starts behaving like a machine. It becomes monotonous and you feel tired. You need to give your family and time, and also focus on yourself, and I managed to do that. It was really important.”
Now, she’s ready to get back to work, but wants to choose the right project. “There are many people approaching me for TV shows, OTT and even films. But whatever I do next has to be worth it, like my role in Anupamaa was. I want to keep the bar high,” she shared.
Madalsa, who has previously acted in South films such as Aalasyam Amrutam and Pathayeram Kodi, says the recognition that television brought her was unparalleled. “I’ve done 21 films, but the kind of recognition I got within the first few months of Anupamaa, was unmatched. TV gives you that daily connection with the audience,” she said.
While she’s exploring other mediums, television isn’t completely off the table. “I’ve been offered quite a few shows, but I’m waiting for something really interesting. A TV show is a long-term commitment and hence, your heart has to be in the role that you’re doing,” she added.
