Shweta Tiwari

Shweta Tiwari courted controversy after making a controversial statement at a press conference in Bhopal on January 26 this year during the promotion of her web series. She had said, "meri bra ka size 'bhagwaan' le rahe hain" which didn't go well, and an FIR was lodged against her for hurting religious sentiments through her remark on God. The case was registered against the actress in the wake of Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra's directions to the city police. The actress had later issued an apology.

Munmun Dutta

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Babita aka Munmun Dutta was booked under SC and ST Act for using casteist slur in one of her videos. Munmun said that the word used by her has been 'misinterpreted' and was not 'said with the intent to insult, intimidate, humiliate or hurt anyone's feelings'. She also mentioned she was 'misinformed about the meaning of the word'. In the end, she wrote, "I sincerely would like to apologize to every single person who has been unintentionally hurt by the usage of the word."

Yuvika Chaudhary

Yuvika Chaudhary was brutually trolled when she used the word 'bhangi' in one of her videos. "I used the word not knowing the exact meaning of it. I said it more in fun and soon this started trending on Twitter. I immediately apologised, but by the time I did that, it had already been picked up across social media. It was not intentional; I didn't mean to hurt anyone. And one can see in the video too that I didn’t say it seriously", she told BT.

Raghav Juyal

Dancer-host Raghav Juyal courted controversy when he made an alleged racist remark about a young contestant Gunjan Sinha on Dance Deewane 3. While introducing the contestant from the North East, Raghav spoke gibberish seemingly to mock Mandarin, the language spoken by the Chinese people. When the judges asked him what he was trying to do, the host replied, "People might not be able to understand her Chinese but they surely understand her dance". Later, he issued an apology for it.

Aditya Narayan

Aditya Narayan also landed himself in trouble after showing 'Alibaug' in poor light on the singing reality show Indian Idol. During the episode, he was seen asking a contestant if he thinks he has come from Alibaug. The Raj Thackrey led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) had demanded an apology from the makers. Aditya issued an apology on behalf of the show. He wrote, “With a humble heart and folded hands I want to apologise to the people of Alibaug and everyone who has been hurt by my sentence on a recent episode of Indian Idol that I’m currently hosting. The intention was never to hurt anyone. I have immense love and respect for Alibaug. My own sentiments are connected with the place, it's people and this soil.”

Kapil Sharma

Comedian Kapil Sharma landed up in trouble in 2020 after he made a remark against the Kayasth community during one of his episodes on 'The Kapil Sharma Show'. Later, he had to issue an apology. He wrote, "Dear Kayastha community, I have learnt that the portrayal of Shri Chitragupta Ji in an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show aired on March, 28, 2020, has hurt your sentiment. Then I along with my entire team express regret. Our intention wasn’t to hurt anyone. I pray to God that may you all be safe, happy and keep smiling. With love and respect."

Mukesh Khanna

The Shaktiman fame Mukesh Khanna made a remark during the #MeToo movement where he said that women are meant to do household chores. He said, "I am sorry to say this, but the MeToo problem started after women started to work." Later, the actor issued an apology for the same.
