​From being stranded without money in a small town to receiving their emergency certificates to return; Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya's robbery ordeal in Italy


Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya went to Europe for a holiday to celebrate their anniversary, little did they know they would experience a harrowing incident. The duo's belongings worth Rs 10 Lakhs and their passports. However, finally, they have received their emergency certificates and are returning to India. Take a look at what had happened.

​Vivek spoke about the incident


While talking to Bombay Times Vivek shared, “Everything about this trip has been incredible, except for this incident. We arrived in Florence yesterday and planned to stay for a day. We went to check out a property we liked for our stay and left all our belongings in a car parked outside at a secure parking spot. However, when we returned to get our stuff, we were shocked to find that the car had been broken into, and our passports, wallets, money, shopping, and all our valuable items were gone. Fortunately, they left behind some old clothes and food items.”

​Vivek and Divyanka tried contacting the local police


Vivek shared, “We tried contacting the local police, but they dismissed our case, saying that without CCTV cameras in that specific area, they can’t help us. They even felt there was no point in them visiting the location. The police station shuts at 6 pm, and after that, they can’t offer any assistance. We also tried reaching out to the embassy, but unfortunately, they had already closed for the day.”

​Vivek revealed they were stuck without money


Vivek also shared that they were left with no cash in a small town, he mentioned, “We are in a small town near Florence. The hotel staff has been kind and helpful to us. But we are stuck without any cash and urgently need the embassy’s assistance. We require temporary passports and substantial help from the embassy to get back to India, as we have nothing with us.”

​Divyanka updated about the money issue being resolved


Divyanka then took to her Instagram handle to update about their money issue being solved, she wrote, “Dear all, Thanks for your immense love and support. It truly means a lot! After losing so much, thankfully, the much-needed love is not lost! Giving our loved ones and the concerned people an update as we are unable to reply to everyone personally.”

Providing an update on their situation, she said: “Currently, our money situation is kind of sorted as we've got some help from a dear friend."

​Divyanka also reached out to PM Giorgia Meloni


Divyanka had also shared a tweet seeking help from PM Giorgia Meloni, she wrote, "Dear PM Ms @GiorgiaMeloni We were passionately touring Italy until we got robbed. Reported to the police. But robberies are being taken so casually here that we have already lost hope along with our enthusiasm. How will I & my people ever gather courage to visit Italy again?"

​Vivek and Divyanka updated about contacting the embassy


Divyanka also updated in the post that they got connected to the embassy, "We've replaced the rented car, as it was thankfully insured. We'll be heading towards the embassy in another city today to get the emergency certificate sorted Also, we have not lost everything as being reported. We have a few things left that were in the boot of the car. Also, left with our spirit intact! No one can snatch that away."

​Vivek and Divyanka got their emergency certificates


Vivek and Divyanka finally got their emergency certificates and are heading back to India, Divyanka wrote, "Heading to Bharat soon. We want to thank 'You' for your overwhelming love and support. A big thanks to the Indian Embassy for making our 'Ghar Wapasi' possible."
