Exclusive - Sagar Parekh calls Akash his most rewarding role as Jagriti nears its end: says ‘Reminded viewers of Shah Rukh Khan from Darr’
Sagar Parekh has won audiences hearts with his emotional performances and on-screen persona. One of the most pivotal moments in his career was his performance in Jagriti. Sagar looks back at his journey with pride and deep feelings as the popular show comes to an end.
Speaking about bidding goodbye to the show, Sagar Parekh shared that the farewell is not easy for him. He said, “As Jagriti comes to an end, I'm feeling a mix of gratitude, nostalgia, and fulfillment. Reflecting on the show’s long run, he added, “Completing nearly 500 episodes is no small achievement, and I think it speaks volumes about the love the show has received.”
For Sagar, being part of Jagriti was special because of its originality. “Jagriti was an original story content-wise, and being a part of something that is so authentic and successful makes the farewell even more emotional,” he explained. He also expressed pride in the show’s growth, especially after the leap. “The show continued to grow stronger post the leap, and we even became slot leaders,” he said, calling the journey deeply satisfying.
Talking about his character, Akash, Sagar said the role gave him immense creative freedom. “Akash was probably the only character on the show who kept changing shades, and that’s what made him incredibly exciting to play,” he shared. He described Akash’s journey as “fiercely emotional and equally entertaining,” adding that there was a lot to explore both emotionally and psychologically.
One of his most loved phases was Akash’s transformation from hero to villain. “I especially loved the phase where Akash turned dark. It reminded viewers of Shah Rukh Khan’s character in Darr,” Sagar said. He noted that audiences connected strongly with this shift. “The TRPs hit an all-time high during that track, which showed how much viewers appreciated the transformation,” he added.
For Sagar, playing such a wide character arc was deeply rewarding. “As an actor, getting to explore so many layers in one character is truly fulfilling, and I had zero complaints from the writers,” he concluded, calling Jagriti a journey he will always cherish.
