Exclusive - Malaika Arora on being trolled on social media: I don't care; 'logon ka kaam hai kehna'

Known for acing her fashion game since her Video Jockey days, Malaika Arora will be now be seen judging a new reality show, Supermodel of the Year. The Chhaiyya Chhaiyya star will now be seen giving tips to aspiring models and judging them. In an exclusive conversation with the TimesofIndia.com, Malaika opened up about her recent reunion with Cyrus Broacha, her old modelling days and being at the receiving end of trolls on social media. On handling trolls on social media

I don't bother at all. It's really sad trolling etc. I feel social media has become a very negative space and that's really sad. Nobody wants to see negativity at the end of the day I feel you should spread happiness and positivity. To answer your question, I don't care and I don't bother. I feel logon ka kaam hai kehna, they will do that and I can't go around and stop someone. People will continue talking so let them. (Photo: Instagram).

Being fashion and fitness inspiration

I think it is quite a pressure when someone tells me that I am a fitness or a fashion inspiration. I always love the compliments. With such tags comes a certain sense of responsibility. Whatever I need to say or project I always try and see that there should be a certain sense of responsibility so that people who look to you or call you inspiration are not misled or misguided. Her reunion with Cyrus Broacha

As a VJ those were my glorious years as I started my career from there. There were no VJ's earlier and I remember Cyrus Broacha and I were the first Video Jokey's to make it on the scene. I had a great time meeting him, it was a nostalgic moment. We got to learn so much and we met some amazing people. Whatever I learnt was from those days and a lot of me is because of what I was in those days. People still remember us and those iconic shows. When we started there were no channels with 24 hours music. Today, whenever I talk to people, they tell me about my show 'Love line' and my song 'Chaiyya Chaiyya'...I think these are the things about my career which I will never be able to erase it from people's memory. It was my quality work. (Photo: Instagram)

On modelling industry

The modelling industry has grown leaps and bounds. When we started there was a very chalta hai attitude and now it has become a full fledged industry and it is recognised as an industry. It has become far more professional. (Photo: Instagram)

Models from the 90's had the X factor

The earlier model of our time has some X factor which unfortunately models these days lack. Earlier, they were all so different and each one of them stood out and had a certain sense of individuality. Not that the girls today are not lovely, they are professional, but models from those days had something in them which made them different. (Photo: Instagram)

On the new show Supermodel Of The Year

Supermodel Of The Year is a reality show but here we are not reprimanding anyone or telling them what to do, how to do. We want the girls to shine through and give them a platform where we can teach them, encourage them. We have a team of experts working with them and just let them be themselves. (Photo: Instagram)

Busting myths about models

We are trying to bust the myth that a supermodel should not necessarily have to be the tallest model, the thinnest or a size zero. I think in today's day and age whether you are plus size, not so tall, you have scars we want to make a place for them and accommodate every kind. (Photo: Instagram)
