Exclusive - Awez Darbar on entering Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 as a wildcard: I have always visualised myself being on the show and I'm most scared of Farah Khan ma'am

Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 will now be welcoming new wildcard entries on the show. Manisha Rani, Awez Darbar, Nikitha Gandhi and Dhanashree Verma will be entering the show. ETimes TV caught up with Awez Darbar, who spoke about his entry on the show, his excitement to be a part of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11 and host Gauahar Khan, who is his bhabhi. I am very excited to be a part of the show and I’ve almost seen all the seasons of the show. I have always visualised myself being there on the show whenever I’ve watched it on television. Main humesha sochta tha “agar main wahan hota toh kya karta”. I used to plan a lot in my mind and would imagine myself on the Jhalak stage and today I’m here. So the feeling is overwhelming and it can’t be described in words. (Photo: Instagram)

I want to make it clear that now in the show only dancing doesn’t matter or dancers don't matter. Recently, I saw a battle between Sangeeta Phogat and Vivek Dahiya, Vivek who dances better than Sangeeta got eliminated that day when the two were in bottom two. Sangeeta got saved because she did a hilarious comedy act. She scored 10 from all the three judges. So it doesn’t matter how good a dancer you are on Jhalak, anyone can win the show. I would like to give my 100 percent to the show because after seeing that I’ve realised that you can’t just win the show on the basis of just dancing, you have to become excellent. I feel everyone is a competition but if I talk about good dancers on the show, I have to say Adrija, Sreerama, Vivek was there but he is out now, so these contestants I feel dance well. But there are other contestants like Tanishaa, even her dance acts are very good as well. But if I have to pick someone on the basis of dance then Adrija is very powerful and she will be my competition. (Photo: Instagram)

I was offered the show last year also but our timings did not match. I was travelling somewhere and there were lots of ups and downs so I couldn’t do the show last year. And now when I am doing the show and Gauahar is there on the show so I’m feeling even better. I think this was purely destiny that this time we both are on the show and I’m very happy about it. My family’s reaction was amazing. Initially, they thought I was playing a prank because I have done that in the past. They thought I was trying to get a reaction from them but when they got to know I’m doing it seriously, they were very shocked. They reacted in a very sweet way, they got emotional also. I’m most scared about Farah Ma’am reaction because she notices even the smallest details. Like when I see a performance I feel it was amazing but then I hear Farah Ma’am’s reaction and comments and then I also realise that yes there were these mistakes and the entire perspective changes. Thoda darr hai Farah ma’am se because she notices even the minute details. Also, I have noticed that the contestants take her comments very seriously and they are doing extremely well now suddenly. It is a positive thing and I would like her to be the same as it will improve our performances. (Photo: Instagram)

Arshad sir looks for entertainment in the acts. He doesn’t go out looking for techniques but somewhere he also watches the acts closely. But overall he goes for entertainment and unko mazaa aana chahiye. Malaika ma’am also looks for vibe in a dance act. These are things I’ve noticed in the judges and they are never biased. There was a mental block that said that I should not be a part of a reality show? But when I saw my friends in reality shows and noticed the audience's reaction towards them and then you get to learn so much being in the company of such talented people, so I think I should have not thought so much about it and have directly said yes to reality shows.
