'Sangeet Er Mahajuddho' gears up for its Grand Finale; here’s what the finalists have to say about their musical journey

Reality show Sangeet Er Mahajuddho, directed by Raj Chakraborty, is inching towards its Grand Finale which will be aired on December 19. After several rounds, five talented contestants have cemented their place in the final stage. Rajdeep Mukherjee, Shalini Mukherjee, Sroyee Paul, Arfin Rana, and Pritam Roy will have an ultimate face-off. The contestants are flooded with emotions as the show is coming to an end. Here's what they have to say about the musical journey...

2/6

Rajdeep Mukherjee

Rajdeep managed to impress the judges as well as the viewers with his consistent performances. He says, “My experience in this show has been enriching right from day one. It’s different from other reality shows and has a unique format. Here, we are competing with established singers and it gave me a sense of confidence. There were a lot of singers whom I have seen as the finalists in other shows. But here, I am competing with them. The judges are really helpful. They have complimented and at times criticised us. Their feedback helped in self-evaluation. The feedback from the audience, on the other hand, is something that we always crave.” Rajdeep is all excited about the climax of the show. When asked about his future plans, he says, “I plan to release more of my songs. Sangeet Er Mahajuddho gave us a platform to showcase our talent and as a result, we are getting more shows.”

3/6

Shalini Mukherjee

“The experience has been really nice. I have worked with all the judges earlier except Rashid ji. So, they all had some expectations from me. It was satisfactory because I could fulfill their expectations and they praised me both off-screen and on-screen. The platform also allowed me to sing various songs. From Manna Dey's songs, Asha Bhosle ji's hits to A.R. Rahman's compositions, I have performed versatile songs. Lastly, I want to mention the captain of our show, Raj Chakraborty, without whom we wouldn’t have been here. I have a lot of respect for him,” says Shalini. Interestingly, she is quite a busy bee. “I have a lot of shows lined up. I am planning to do my own songs. I’m working with Debu da ( Debojyoti Mishra) on a number of projects. I started working with him for Mahalaya which was aired on this channel. I have also done the background vocals for Jai Jagannath,” she adds.

4/6

Pritam Roy

Pritam is known for his soulful voice and versatile performances. He says, “I have tried to learn something from each show I have participated in. And Sangeet Er Mahajuddho isn’t an exception. It gave me a unique experience and I have learned a lot of things.” Pritam was a part of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa’ earlier. He says, “I always wanted to do my own composition. I’m very happy I could do that on stage. I have even requested if the judges can perform any of my compositions.”

5/6

Sroyee Paul

Sroyee is one of the strongest contestants. Earlier, she participated in ‘Super Singer’ and managed to leave a mark with her melodious performance. Speaking about Sangeet Er Mahajuddho, she adds, “The show is very different from other shows because everyone is equally talented. You have to give your best because it’s a tough competition.” Sroyee shared how the judges and mentors helped them in every possible way. “The judges not only appreciated us but also groomed us. We had Dibyendu da as our mentor for the show and there is so much to learn from him.” She is both nervous and excited about the grand finale which will crown the winner. Speaking about her future plans, she says, “I have few shows planned. I also a band and will focus on that.”

6/6

Arfin Rana

Arfin, with his power-packed performances, impressed the judges in the show. He is one of those contestants, who managed to get standing ovations as well. He says, “The experience is really good. It is a big platform and we started this show when there was nothing. I have learned a lot from this show. We had a very talented groomer and most importantly working with Raj Chakraborty was wonderful. I just wish we could continue the show.” Interestingly, Arfin has already crooned the title track of the mythological show ‘Jai Jagannath’ which is aired by the same television channel. As the show is set to end its journey, Arfin wants to go back to Mumbai. “After this, I’m moving back to Mumbai which is my workplace is. I shifted here during the pandemic and now I will go back,” Arfin says.
