If reports are to go by, Ladakh’s Tourism Department has announced that Indian tourists can now travel to the civil tourist facility near Siachen Base Camp without any special permit. It is important to note that the Siachen Glacier region is under the control of the Indian military.
As per the reports, domestic tourists can now visit the area without any authorisation or NOC from the authorities. However, the District Administration will continue to collect the environmental fee.
Located in Nubra Valley, Siachen Base Camp is one of the most interesting tourist destinations that you need to have on your wishlist. You might want to avoid winter as temperature is known to go down to -60 degrees Celsius.
