If you are a wildlife enthusiast, you are in for a really good time because in and around Bengaluru there are plenty of great wildlife parks and reserve forests. These nature spots will give you the perfect escapes you’ve been looking for. We have handpicked some of the best wildlife experiences near Bengaluru for you.
Bandipur National Park
Located approximately 235 km from Bengaluru is the Bandipur National Park, right in the Western Ghats. The national park, one of the best in the country, is home to leopard, tiger, wild elephant, many species of deer, and a number of bird species. Bandipur is one of the most interesting wildlife parks in India with diverse flora and fauna.
Bannerghatta National Park
Bannerghatta National Park is located just 25 km from the city, making it a perfect destination for a day trip. Though Bannerghatta is a biological reserve, you can take a guided safari tour of the park. Bannerghatta’s animal rescue centre is a must-visit. Come here to see the sloth bear, leopards, gaurs, black buck and the best, the butterfly park. The park stays closed on Tuesdays.
Nagarhole Tiger Reserve
Nagarhole National Park comes under the Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve and is known for rich wildlife biodiversity. The reserve forest has over 270 species of birds and comes under the category of Important Bird Area. Whilst you enjoy the stunning waterfalls and streams, keep an eye out for leopards, wild elephant, sloth bear, golden jackal and tiger. Nagarhole is 220 km from Bengaluru.
Kabini
Approximately 245 km from Bengaluru, Kabini Reserve Forest is a great weekend getaway. With lovely wildlife resorts aplenty, Kabini can be your luxurious getaway in the wild. When here, you can go for jungle safari tours, coracle rides, and nature walks.
Dubare Elephant Camp
Dubare Elephant Camp is a one-of-a-kind nature experience you must try out. Located at a distance of 251 km from Bengaluru, the Dubare Elephant Camp sits on the banks of the Cauvery river. It is one of the best features of Kodagu district. Watch the elephants being cared for at the elephant camp. Who knows, you might also get a chance to give an elephant a bath!
