Thrissur Pooram at Vadakkunnathan Temple
Held every year at the famous Vadakkunnathan (Shiva) Temple in Thrissur, Thrissur Pooram is one of the largest and most famous temple festivals in Kerala. During this time, you’ll get to witness elephants, fireworks, folk dance and music.
Attukal Pongala at Attukal Temple
Another colourful temple festival of Kerala is Attukal Pongala. This 10-day religious festival is celebrated at the Attukal Bhagavathy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram and is often described as Sabarimala of the Women.
Chinakkathoor Pooram at Chinakkathoor Temple
Chinakkathoor Temple in Palappuram is dedicated to Bhadrakali and renowned for Chinakkathoor Pooram Festival. During the festival, a ritualistic shadow puppet show of Kudhira Kali is organised at the temple.
Kettukazhcha at Chettikulangara Devi Temple
The festival is held every year in Alappuzha at the Chettikulangara Devi Temple dedicated to the Goddess Shakti. The deity is locally called 'Chettikulangara Amma'. Kettukazhcha is the festival where temple cars known as kuthiras are decorated and put on display.
Alpashi Utsavam at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple
The renowned Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram is noted for hosting several colourful festivals but Alpashi Utsavam is quite famous. The is a major annual festival which is organised at Shankumugham Beach.
