Locally known as just Kalakshetra, this institution gets its name after the creator of modern Assamese community, Srimanta Shankardev. Spread across a vast land mass with hillocks and numerous passages, the compound houses many buildings, several replicas of Assam’s heritage monuments and a permanent stage that hosts cultural festivals.One can take a walk down the lanes of history in the cultural museum which is an authentic custodian of the glimpses from the past.
