It is commonly held that the desert doesn’t breed much natural wildlife. Not so under the shores of the Gulf, where a plethora of marine species traverse the currents. Divers and snorkelers in the region have been known to glimpse everything from clown fish and Moray eels, to whale sharks and devil rays.
Al Boom is the most reliable operator in the city, and offers day trips on a traditional Dhow to the neighbouring emirate of Fujairah, as well as Musandam in Oman, a coastal area rich in coral and fjords. They also have PADI courses for anyone aching for a diving certification.
