Quirky ways to have great evenings in Mumbai
We say get touristy when in Mumbai, just because you can and it is so much fun. The city that never sleeps will never make you tired of it either. There is a boatload of activities you can do when in Mumbai. From normal sightseeing to exploring the famous street food joints from club-hopping to taking a ferry ride, Mumbai has so many exciting experiences to offer to its visitors as well as residents. Here are top five evening experiences you should go for when in Mumbai.
Take the ferry
Ro-Pax Ferry. Yes, that’s the best way to reach popular beach destinations including Alibaug, Murud, Kihim and Kashid. Ro-Pax Ferry operates daily between Ferry Wharf in Mumbai and Mandwa Jetty in Raigad. They are known for their punctuality and cost effectiveness. The ferry ride cuts your by-road travel time and brings you to our destination in less than an hour’s time. Enjoy the lovely sunset and the beautiful view of the Mumbai harbour.
Helicopter joyride
If you want to take fun and adventure a notch higher, there’s the option to do Mumbai sightseeing on a helicopter. There are rides for 15 mins, 20 mins, 30 mins, and 1 hour that you can choose from. These rides are available daily from 11 AM to 4 PM. This is definitely an unique experience you can have in Mumbai. The view from up above is spectacular.
Catch a play
Head to the iconic Prithvi Theatres for an evening of play. Not many places in India these days have theatre culture. Mumbai is one the few known places in India with a rich theatre culture. Famous names like Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen, (Late) Om Puri are associated with Prithvi Theatres. After the play, you can head to the Prithvi Cafe for a bite to eat, and make an evening of it. Last play ends around 11 PM.
Cycling tour of the city
You can do these cycling tours either early in the morning or at night. Priced at approximately INR 1000 per tour, the cycle tour will take you on a fun ride around Bandra and Churchgate. For an additional fee, the tour organisers will also provide you with a cycle if you don’t have one of your own. We hear that's a great way to spend a weekend evening in Mumbai.
Experience the street food culture
Food never fails. Street food especially. Food streets are locally called khao gullies and they are the life of Mumbai. Mohammad Ali Road, Juhu Beach, Carter Road in Bandra, Cross Maidan in Churchgate, Malad Link Road, Ghatkopar, are some of the places popular for street food. Most of these places are open till late night. A fun evening of great food followed by some more food for your late night cravings.
