A booming music scene with venues of every size

Noteworthy for: Music industry executives from around the world descend on Oslo each February for by:Larm, a showcase event for young bands held across 40 different stages.

Oslo's music scene has grown enormously in the last 10 years and there are now over 20 venues to choose from. The primary stage for international rock and pop acts is that of the 10,000 capacity Spektrum Arena, just behind Central Station. The other main venues are Rockefeller Hall and nearby Sentrum Scene, both of which have capacities of well under 2,000 - so you can often catch big name acts in a relatively intimate setting.
For lesser known and up-and-coming bands, try the John Dee club (also at the Rockefeller center), Café Mono, Funhouse or Parkteatret Scene. Many of the city's bars and clubs also regularly host live music.
