How do you take a part of Sri Lanka back with you? How do you hold on to the memories of your holidays once you're back home? And what do you take back for friends and family? Souvenirs! And you get the most authentic handicrafts—wooden lions, a popular Sinhalese symbol, crafted into key chains; diaries crafted from paper made of elephant dung; statues of the Buddha etc. For the teetotalers, there are various packets of tea to choose from, grown on estates across the country. For the bookworms, there are various books that offer a glimpse into Sri Lankan history, culture, arts as also her myths and legends. You're bound to come across a Laksala store on your travels through the city, as there are several branches spread across Colombo. If not, simply hop into a rickshaw and the driver will know exactly where to take you. You can spend hours browsing through the many goodies, and if nothing else, take home a mug or a tea-shirt that screams, 'I heart Sri Lanka'.
