India’s most offbeat bird sanctuaries

India is one of the most noted spots for bird lovers. There are some sanctuaries which are extremely famous for their population of migratory birds but then there are some offbeat and lesser-known sanctuaries too that offer unique birdwatching experiences.

These are quieter and less touristy environments for bird enthusiasts.

Here are some of India's offbeat bird sanctuaries:

Located in the Darjeeling district, Chamurchi is a quiet and serene birding spot. It offers a chance to spot Himalayan and sub-Himalayan bird species amidst lush tea gardens.

The world's largest river island, Majuli, is a hotspot for birds and biodiversity. It's particularly known for its population of the Bengal florican, a critically endangered bird species.
