Dark Mansion Museum

Experience colorful terrain and tropical forests glow in the dark. Watch a play of fluorescent colors and light and identify creatures inside a jungle. Walk inside the ‘Infinity Room’ with endless creatures in the sky. Pose as a mermaid with turtles, dolphins and other bright aquatic life in a dark ocean. Experience how paintings transform into something entirely different when ambient light is varied. For instance, ‘Water and Fire’, the museum’s largest anamorphic masterpiece of three dimensional art on the first floor depicts a scenic waterfall during the day, but transforms into a volcanic site with bright molten lava in the dark. This is a creation by a German transitory artist, Edgar Mueller.
On the entrance however, the museum welcomes you with pieces of art from popular culture. Illusion art depicting Malaysian food such as roti canai and teh tarik, video games such as Mario, board games like snakes and ladders, table football or fuzboll, and various animation characters fill up the ground floor. It all helps you to adjust your eyes to progressively dimmer light conditions as you move to witness art that glows in the dark.

Tips: Located on Kimberley Street, it is within walking distance from Upside Down Museum and you can plan to visit both consecutively.
