Mexican artist Frida Kahlo is coming to Chicago this summer. That is to say, a comprehensive guide of the artist is going on exhibit in the city’s Cleve Carney Museum of Art, and the McAninch Arts Centre in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. The exhibition is scheduled for opening on June 5 but, in reality, it was supposed to have been held late last year. The postponed exhibition has loaned Kahlo’s 26 original works, including 19 oil paintings, and other paper works from Museo Dolores Olmedo in Mexico City. The exhibition is being called, Frida Kahlo: Timeless.
According to the Cleve Carney Museum of Art Director and Curator, this latest exhibition shows the life and career of an exceptional artist. Kahlo, known for her exceptional self-portraits, and a native folk art style centred around Mexico, has been often called a magical realist when it comes to her art works.
According to media reports from Chicago, the museum is going to be designed as a one-direction flow, and this way visitors will not cross each other. You will also have masks, and hand sanitizers available at the museum grounds, while there will be floor markings for guidance.
