Nepal
Travelling to Nepal from India via road will be an exhilarating experience that will not only offer promising views, but will also be convenient in several aspects. While an Indian driving licence will be enough to drive till Nepal, Indians will also not require a visa to enter the country. If you drive from Delhi to Kathmandu, you will have to reach the Sunauli Border to enter Nepal.
Thailand
Ditch that flight to Thailand for a change, and set out on a trip to Thailand via road. Trust us, you won’t regret it. And once you reach Thailand, prepare yourself to indulge in diverse experiences like relaxing at pristine beaches, exploring churches, and temples, trying out delectable cuisines and adventure sports and much more. Thailand is for everyone, no matter whether you are travelling on a budget or you are in a mood to splurge. You will also require a valid passport and special permits.
Bhutan
Bhutan also has a free movement agreement with India, so travelling to this neighbouring country shouldn’t cause you any headache. Travelling to Bhutan via road has been, in fact, on the wishlist of many adventure seekers. Although you will not require a passport or visa to undertake this journey, you will need to pre-register your personal vehicle before entering the country at the border.
Vietnam
Vietnam boats of pristine natural beauty and rich culture which makes it a great place to visit, If you take a car ride from New Delhi to Hanoi, you will be crossing across Myanmar, Thailand, and Laos before reaching Vietnam, and the journey itself will be an interesting one. Vietnam allows Indians to drive their own vehicles within the country with a valid international driving permit and a carnet.
Bangladesh
Bangladesh is one of the neighbouring countries that you can plan a trip any time of the year, and will be one of the easiest international trips too. The safest route to take will be via Dhaka-Chittagong highway. When there, one should not miss visiting the capital city, Dhaka, and the Sundarbans. Indian travellers with a valid Indian passport can easily get a visa from the Bangladeshi embassy.
Malaysia
Malaysia is another country where you can opt to travel from India via road. To reach Kuala Lumpur, you will be crossing two other countries, i.e., Myanmar and Thailand, which will be an experience in itself. For smooth travel, make sure you have a valid passport, driving licence, and visa.
Singapore
To reach Singapore from New Delhi, you will be travelling across three countries – Myanmar, Thailand and Malaysia. However, make sure that all your visa/entry requirements are in place for a smooth journey.
Myanmar
A visit to this destination will be a visual treat for sure. Famous for its pagodas and serene landscape, this place is a must-visit for all kinds of travellers. You need to be well-prepared to plan a visit to this place to avoid any issue on the way. Some of the documents required are a valid passport, special permits, and also an MMT permit which will be required for travelling into Myanmar with your vehicle.
Turkey
If you love driving and you want to go on a really long drive, look no farther than Turkey. Not only will the destination amuse you, but the journey will also be a thrilling one. The ideal route map for a road trip from India to Turkey would be: New Delhi — Lhasa (Tibet) — China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan — Turkmenistan — Iran — Turkey. And once you are there, you will have magical views of balloon filled skies, spectacular mosques, beautiful beaches, and much more to explore.
Sri Lanka
Yes, you read that right. You can actually travel to Sri Lanka via road. For this you can opt to drive from New Delhi, and then cross 6 states—Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. After reaching Tamil Nadu, you can take a ferry to transport your vehicle from Tuticorin port to Colombo port in Sri Lanka.
