If you’re walking along the Singapore River just outside the Esplanade Theatres By The Bay, you might find yourself walking under the Esplanade Bridge overpass and in a small quiet park. This is the Esplanade Park, one of the oldest in Singapore built in 1943. It is located along Connaught Drive, and besides the Esplanade, is also adjacent to the Padang, the old Supreme Court (soon to be the National Gallery) and City Hall. Not much happens in this park these days, save the occasional event, so it’s a nice quiet place for you to chill out in after catching a performance at the Esplanade. The Queen Elizabeth Walk which refers to the stretch of promenade by the river offers quite a nice view of the Marina Bay area without the hoards of tourists. For history lovers, there are a bunch of monuments here significant to Singapore’s history, including the Lim Bo Seng Memorial, the Indian National Army Plaque and the Cenotaph. If you’re looking to escape the heat, the shopping malls Raffles City, Marina Square and City Link Mall are less than 5 mins walk away.Refrain from posting comments that are obscene, defamatory or inflammatory, and do not indulge in personal attacks, name calling or inciting hatred against any community.
