Connaught Place, or CP as it is universally known, is a photographer’s delight, a book lover’s paradise, a shopaholics dream and a businessman’s mecca. It is a prominent business and commercial district of the capital city that houses corporate offices of many government and private organisations. CP has the honour of hosting the largest national flag in India that hangs on a 100 ft tall post. Myriad restaurants, cafes, fast-food outlets, movie theatres, pubs and clubs bedeck its inner and outer circle and street food stalls are equally popular. On the radial road lies the popular street market of Janpath, which is frequented by natives and foreigners alike. A little dreaded but equally popular is the Palika Bazaar, which is an underground market, abounds in pirated ware and hence also frequented by some unscrupulous elements. Some of the oldest shops of New Delhi can be found here.
