“All’ombra del Colosseo” is a quite old series of events, that saw its first edition happening in 1990. It has always been located on the “Parco del Colle Oppio”, the Oppian Hill not far from the Roman Amphitheatre from which its name is deriving “under the shadow of the Colosseum”.It started as a neighbourhood event, focused on stand up comedy and satirical performances that managed to grab the attention of the audience. Thanks to its steady flow, it became a never missing appointment of the “Estate Romana”, the series of events taking places in Rome during summer.
Unfortunately last year the manifestation didn’t take place because of bureaucratic problems and deadlines, giving the impossible task to the organizers to schedule 3 months of events in just ten days; but we are sure that next year it will be back with all of its laughter.
It usually last for two full months from the end of June to the beginning of September and on the stage a selection of Italian comedians are performing. Unless you speak the local language you won’t understand much, but even if you don’t it’s a good occasion to join local life and enjoy its renowned swimming pool.
If you are in the center, you can reach the Oppian Hill easily on foot; if not “Colosseo” metro station is conveniently located.
