Allahabad Museum

One of the best and largest museums of the country, Allahabad Museum was inaugurated in 1947 by the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. The museum is recognized for its individual galleries which are devoted to archaeological findings, art gallery, natural history exhibits and artefacts. It also gives the visitors a clear insight into the history, culture, heritage and independence movement of India. The museum is located inside the renowned Chandrashekar Azad Park, where the revered revolutionary sacrificed his life with his own gun. It is surrounded with lush green gardens and is a body under the care of the Ministry of culture. The museum is custodian to various rock sculptors, the miniature paintings from Rajasthan, Terracotta from Kaushambi, literary and artwork from Bengal School of Art. The stuff that is featured inside the museum include prehistoric and Indus Valley antiquities, bronzes, seals, miniature paintings, stone sculpture and terracotta work. This entire set of terracotta work found here is counted among the largest of its kind in the whole world. The oldest terracotta, which is on show in this museum dates back to the fall of Indus valley civilization!
