Rock City

Another popular Phuket bar is Rock City, which is almost an institution. Located in downtown Patong, Rock City is Phuket’s very own hard rock bar. As a long term establishment in the area bringing rock and roll to the streets, the bar takes pride in offering free entry and free entertainment to all its patrons. Metal, rock and rock cover bands are on every night from 9pm until late, and cover everyone’s favourite bands (except “Hotel California” which was banned!) including KISS, Eagles of Death Metal, Metalica, and Iron Maiden. There is also often the opportunity for those talented souls from the crowd to jump up and perform guest songs. Drinks are fairly cheap (starting at $3USD) considering you are getting a free show too. One of the bar’s specialties is the Rock City Nurses who parade around in barely-there nurses uniforms providing life saving shots to the crowd served in syringes. Perhaps not everyone’s cup of tea, but a bit of fun and a good night out.
