If you’re on the lookout for a great steak or beef sausage, I’m afraid you won’t find it here. That said, there are plenty of other delicious menu items to feast on. The Publican prides itself on its fantastic oysters, pork, and beer. Channelling a classic country farmhouse menu, plus a festive European beer hall, The Publican does not disappoint. The chef handpicks the products from sustainably-raised seafood and pork, and then looks to showcasing the seasonal options available from the local area. The menu is simple and classic meat or seafood options, served with classic vegetable sides. Meat highlights include the three ham meat board of Serrano, Benton’s country ham, and publican la quercia, the classic farm chicken, and the suckling pig. The vegetables stand alone (so great for dining with tricky vegetarian friends) with amazing selection of fresh dishes like cantaloupe with ricotta, country ham, and fried onions and spicy habanero. The Publican is also open for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays, with a revolving menu on each day, so you can go twice. The decor matches the French provincial style of the food with large communal farm table inside with views of the busy open kitchen.
