A woman entrepreneur in Nagaland just launched a 100 per cent organic dragon fruit wine, which is doing rounds on the internet lately. Ngullie said that she learned the art of winemaking from a Philippino winemaker and all the ingredients used in making the 100 per cent organic dragon fruit wine were directly imported from Canada.
“I humbly hope that this venture would encourage and inspire fellow Naga farmers to learn how to be self-reliant and not always depend on government subsidies or intervention,” said Nguillie.
Talking about launching in the market, she said that the wine will be up for sale by February next year. A lot of people have already pre-ordered their bottles. She further said that because these fruits are seasonal and perishable, turning them into wine also saves them from wastage.
She already has a huge line of orders to meet for the wine and given the limited quantity, she will need another year to meet the demand. But until then, wine lovers can head to Nashik in Maharashtra which is the wine hub of the country. More than 90 per cent of the wine in India is produced here.
