The Las Vegas style FoxCroft & Ginger signage illuminates the floor to ceiling windows at the entrance of this modern cafe located in Berwick Street, which shares the thoroughfare with a daily street market. This atmospheric area has had a revamp and now more than ever, buzzes with the hipster crowd who pop in for their caffeine fix and observe urban culture in one of London's most bohemian neighbourhoods. This is a very trendy space, with even trendier bespoke products and décor. The interior can only be described as an urban industrial look, with a mural on the exposed concrete and brick work stating ‘Artisan bakers and coffee makers.’ Downstairs is where you will find the kitchens, bakery and a team of chefs, pastry chefs and bakers creating everything from bread, pastries and cakes to sausages, granola, jams, chutney, pickles and sauces. The serving staff upstairs are young, friendly and attentive and, they know their beans, so do not be shy from asking for their suggestions on what to have. By recommendation I tried the iced coffee with a ginger infusion that enhanced the coffee notes through the very slightest hint of ginger. But the one thing that will make you an instantly loyal customer is their toasted banana bread drizzled with honey. Another of their innovations is the ‘Cruffin’ a cross between a croissant and a muffin, which won the Café Life Award 2015 for New Café Food. Their house blend is called ‘Hello Sailor’ which is made from 50% Columbian, 25% Guatemalan, and 25% Kenyan, and they offer single origin coffee which changes from day to day. ‘FoxCroft & Ginger’ represents the modern evolution of hybrid cafes, combining style and innovation, quality and flavour, with service that runs from day to night, catering to the tastes of most people.
