Another reserved wetland in the Changthang region of Ladakh, Tso Moriri will take your breath away. It’s the lesser-visited lake when compared to Pangong Tso but is perhaps more awe-striking. While sunshine renders different shades of blue to its freezing water, photographers can be seen sitting at its banks for hours for one perfect shot. At around 240 km from Leh, it is the highest altitude lake in Indian territory. With some luck, you might run into Changpas, the native shepherds of Changthang, around the lake. While it gets bitterly cold towards the night, you can stay nearby in Korzok village. Pitching tents by the lake is not allowed, for the area is ecologically sensitive.
