This stunning place is where Shamshera's real-life Kaza is!

There’s a new entrant in the world of period action movies and it is none other than the Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt starrer, Shamshera. Make no mistake, it is the hottest talk in town right now, with the releasing date just round the corner. And, we are stoked!

Shamshera’s story is set in the 1800s, right when the Britishers were all about expanding their control in India, one province at a time. One such province or city happened to be Kaza. A fictitious city as far as the movie’s story goes, but portrayed by a real life location.
We are talking about Ladakh’s Nubra Valley, the real life location that was portrayed as the reel-life city of Kaza.


The action-packed movie has the Robin Hood-ish protagonist Shamshera, played by Ranbir Kapoor, in a head-to-head clash with the antagonist Daroga Shudh Singh, played by Sanjay Dutt. This exciting duo take their tales of hatred for each other all across the beautiful Nubra Valley in Ladakh. The phrase ‘less is more’ must have been created keeping Nubra Valley in mind. The sparse landscape has most efficiently added drama to the turbulent story line of the movie.
A dacoit protagonist leading his team of dacoits on horses across the cold desert valley of Nubra in a high-action sequence, is what we are here for. Though the movie was also shot in Film City - Goregaon, Mumbai, our eyes are all glued to the stark yet beautiful landscape of Nubra Valley, Ladakh.

For those curious, Nubra Valley is situated in Ladakh, between Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of Himalayas. Sitting at an altitude of about 10,000 ft above sea level, Nubra is a high-altitude cold desert. The famous Hunder village is located here in Nubra.
