Located adjacent to Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Kofuku-ji Temples, this second oldest museum of Japan is a must visit for connoisseurs of Buddhist art and for anyone and everyone who takes delight in delving into history or seeking new knowledge. Formerly founded as a single brick building in 1895 in the form of Nara Buddhist Sculpture Hall, the Nara National Museum was expanded by adding two supplemental buildings later on, all connected to each other through an underground walkway.
