Let’s go a little back in time, quite literally though, as the clock in British Columbia runs an hour behind the Alberta’s. Standing tall, Mount Robson is the highest point in the Canadian Rockies. An hour’s drive from Jasper will take you to the Mount Robson Information center, which I suggest should be your starting point, not just for the wealth of information but also for the amazing scenery around. Chat with the hosts, gather information on the trails & places around, but just before you leave, do visit the deck behind. Stunning views of the Mount Robson await you! At times determined clouds put a curtain on Mount Robson’s visage, but many I know have waited hours patiently for that one perfect shot of a lifetime!Mount Robson’s repertoire of hiking opportunities is just immense, your foray into its exquisite wilderness. From an hour-long stroll to hikes that take a week or more, let your adulation for wilderness take its course. For those of you with a day in hand, Fraser River Nature Walk or a slightly longer Kinney lake trail, are the most pertinent options. Berg Lake trail could take you a few days, and if that does not satiate you still, then there is more out there for your wandering souls!
On your way back to Jasper, do stop by the Moose Lake. Its turquoise waters can be accessed from the parking lot. Stand tall on the rocks at the lakeshore & the instructions to gawk at the surrounding alpines need not be given!
