Goa beaches to reopen for swimming from November 1

Weeks after Goa beaches were rendered ‘not safe’, they will officially reopen for swimming from November 1. However, there is a slight catch here, and that is there will also be 24 ‘no selfie’ zones. A state agency informed the press regarding this development.
Goa is one of the top tourist destinations that registers more than eight million tourists every year. And this number consists of both domestic and international tourists. As per a statement issued by the state-appointed Drishti Lifesaving lifeguard agency, they have already started setting up safe zones for swimming along the coastlines of the state.

The primary responsibility of this agency is to map weather and sea conditions each morning and then set up safe zones for swimming along the beaches, which are further manned by the agency’s 600 lifeguard force.
If records are to be believed, almost all the beaches in Goa are safe; however, as per the statement released by the agency, visitors should stick to the basic safety measures and swim ideally only on the swim zones that are marked by yellow and red flags.
For the safety of visitors, the agency has put up signage at the entrance of each beach, which enlists all the safety tips. Also, ‘no-selfie’ zones have been marked to prevent accidents.
