Exploring Thanjavur’s rich cultural heritage

Located on the eastern coast of Tamil Nadu is the city of Thanjavur, a place most famous for its cultural heritage, most importantly, the artistic side of things. The city is renowned for its gorgeous temples, vibrant culture and traditions and a unique art form called Tanjore Painting.

Temples and art aside, there is another side of Thanjavur that is unmatched and iconic. The city has long been a cradle of Carnatic music and Bharatnatyam dance form. Speaking of Carnatic music, the city has produced legendary musicians. One of the best known names is that of the great composer Tragaraja. When we talk about Indian classical music, Thanjavur stands out.
