Chiang Mai is home to an impressive amount of luxury hotels and if you want to splurge on an upscale experience, why not grab a drink at one of their trendy bars? The Service 1921 Restaurant and Bar at the Anantara Resort and Spa has it all―an interesting history, cool atmosphere and high quality beverages. Housed in the original British Consulate building that was built in 1921, hence the name, the bar is gorgeous with dark wood, tile and unique colonial-inspired architecture. It oozes luxury and gets really romantic at night. Basically it’s the perfect atmosphere to unwind after a long, hot day by sipping whiskey in the bar’s private tasting room or enjoying a Cuban cigar. If whiskey isn’t your thing, you can choose from one of the menu’s handcrafted cocktails with a local twist, like the ‘Thaipirinha’ with white rum, lemongrass, ginger, hot basil and lime. Additionally, the bar has an extensive wine cellar. If you’re in the mood for a meal as well, the food served here is incredible, certainly worthy of its 5-star status, with an emphasis on European and Indian dishes.
