Thailand is known for its three most popular, domestic lagers―Singha, Chang and Leo―but if you are thirsty for something with a little more flavour (all the Thai beers are pretty mild and even often drunk with ice) head to HOBS, standing for House of Beers, in the Nimmanhaemin neighbourhood. The chain from Bangkok prides itself on providing a wide range of European beers and traditional drinking in a contemporary atmosphere. Many of the draft and bottled beers come from Belgian, but there are also brews from England, Scotland, Spain, Germany and more. The bar menu features a variety of standard pub dishes, such as fish and chips, ribs, sausages, burgers and fries along with special guidance on how to pair the beer you choose to try with your meal. Situated right on Nimmanhaemin Road, the open-air restaurant is popular with young well-to-do Thais and western tourists or expats wanting to throw back a few pints they can’t find elsewhere in town (the prices are more western as well!).
