Microsoft has announced the launch of its upcoming laptop — Surface Laptop Ultra. Built in association with Nvidia, the company claims that it is the most-powerful Surface device yet. Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra features a 15-inch mini-LED PixelSense Ultra display and is powered by Nvidia’s recently launched RTX Spark chipset. Designed for developers, AI builders and creators, Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra packs up to 128GB unified memory. The Surface Laptop Ultra will be available later in 2026, with pricing and regional availability yet to be disclosed.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra features
The Surface Laptop Ultra features a touchscreen display which comes with HDR nightness of up to 2,000 nots and 262 PPI pixel density. The company claims that it is the brightest display ever shipped on a Surface laptop. The laptop comes in Platinum and Nightfall finishes and it also includes Microsoft's largest haptic touchpad.
Microsoft Surface Laptop Ultra is powered by Nvidia Blackwell RTX GPU with full CUDA support, delivering up to 1 petaflop of AI compute with up to 128GB of unified memory and full CUDA support. Unified memory allows the pool of RAM to be dynamically allocated wherever your workloads need it most across CPU and GPU, so AI creation, 3D rendering and multi-model workflows run simultaneously, with 1 petaflop of AI compute, capable of running up to 120B parameter models locally.
Microsoft’s “inside-out” engineering approach optimizes thermal, acoustic, and structural design to manage the heat generated by the GPU and CPU while maintaining quiet operation. “We designed Surface Laptop Ultra from the inside out. Mechanical, electrical, thermal, acoustic, materials, industrial design and software engineers at the table from day one. The internal architecture and the external form are built as one system. Our engineers designed it with the same discipline we know you bring to your craft, where every micron matters and every choice is deliberate,” said the company.
Unlike previous minimalist Surface designs, the Laptop Ultra includes a comprehensive set of ports:
- HDMI
- USB-C
- USB-A
- SD card slot
- 3.5mm headphone jack
This ensures compatibility with professional workflows without relying on external adapters.
The device is deeply integrated with Windows and optimized for RTX Spark, enabling developers and AI creators to leverage the hardware ecosystem out of the box. Microsoft emphasizes that the Laptop Ultra was purpose-built for “world makers” — creators, engineers, and developers pushing the boundaries of technology.
