007 First Light game cast revealed: From Patrick Gibson’s Bond to Gemma Chan and Lenny Kravitz

Every generation gets its own James Bond. From the suave charm of cinema's classic 007s to the gritty reinventions of recent decades, audiences have watched the British spy evolve with the times. Now, 007 First Light takes a different approach entirely. Instead of introducing the world's most famous secret agent at the height of his career, the game winds the clock back to explore the making of Bond himself, before the tuxedos, Aston Martins and licence to kill became legendary.

To bring this younger, less experienced Bond to life, developer IO Interactive has assembled an impressive cast featuring acclaimed television stars, Hollywood actors and even a Grammy-winning musician. From Dexter: Original Sin star Patrick Gibson stepping into the role of James Bond to Eternals actress Gemma Chan and The Walking Dead veteran Lennie James, the game is packed with familiar faces and voices. Who plays James Bond?

As the 007's official website revealed the cast officially, the role of Bond is played by Patrick Gibson, who portrays a 26-year-old recruit before he earns his famous 007 status. IO Interactive deliberately chose a younger actor to tell an original Bond origin story rather than recreating any of the film versions of the character.

The biggest surprise casting choice of 007 First Light

Perhaps the most unexpected name in the cast is Lenny Kravitz. The rock star plays arms dealer Bawma, one of the game's most prominent new characters, bringing both his likeness and voice to the role. He is a Grammy-winning rock musician and has played Cinna in The Hunger Games. Krvitz stars as the game's flashiest villain.
