However, internal sources claimed that there was no such thing and debunked the entire rumor that was floating around. Furthermore, Fightful noted on X that, "nobody in WWE, among the dozens @FightfulSelect has spoken to, has heard that Punk wanted out of his WWE contract, and no talent we heard from believed he was asked to take a pay cut.”

Even AJ Lee's absence also became the topic of discussion among fans, with some believing that she and Punk had distanced themselves from WWE due to personal or professional disagreements. But the real reason for her absence is related to her involvement in projects outside the wrestling ring.
