Hulk Hogan may have been a wrestling icon, but his legacy as a grandfather is now under public scrutiny. According to son-in-law Steven Oleksy, the WWE Hall of Famer showed “no interest” in meeting Brooke Hogan’s newborn twins before his sudden demise on July 24. Brooke Hogan and Steven Oleksy moved from Michigan to Florida in an intentional effort to be closer to Hulk Hogan as his health began to decline. Oleksy had just retired from the NHL, and the couple hoped proximity would foster healing.“She was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years,” Oleksy told PEOPLE. “She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife.”Also Read : Brooke Hogan finally reveals why she wanted no part in Hulk Hogan’s funeral or final farewellBut the closeness didn't last. The emotional weight of Hulk Hogan’s absence grew heavier after his death. Brooke admitted she read some of the texts exchanged between her father and husband. “Some answered, some ignored… but all of them broke my heart,” she wrote.“I know in my heart I did everything I could,” she continued. “He knew I would run through a burning building for him. And in many ways, along the path of life, I did.”As for the late wrestler’s estate, reports suggest Brooke won’t receive a share, by choice. Oleksy confirmed that Brooke wanted to uphold her father's best interests, despite their complicated past. “That money does not represent accomplishments in the ring — the majority of it came at the expense of my wife’s dignity,” he said (via Page Six), referencing the pain caused by Hulk’s past public controversies. Also Read: Florida honors Hulk Hogan with statewide tribute as Ron DeSantis lowers flags for wrestling legendThough they were never able to reconcile, Brooke Hogan says she finds peace knowing she tried everything to protect and support her father.
