SmackDown Here Comes the Pain is widely regarded as the greatest WWE game of all time. Publishers like Yute's and now 2K sports have continued to give us many WWE games over the years, and the franchise is now established enough to be compared to the likes of NBA 2K and EA FC. Despite having multiple titles developed with the latest technology in gaming, WWE has been unable to top the popularity and love that people have for SmackDown Here Comes The Pain.Recent titles like WWE 2K24 and WWE 2K22 have picked up the slack, but the game still lacks the life and passion it had when "Here Comes The Pain" was released back in 2003. There’s a certain hole within the franchise that can be filled with a proper remaster of the best game WWE has ever had. Today, we’ll be taking a look at three reasons why SmackDown Here Comes The Pain deserves a remake. Also Read:

Here are three reasons why SmackDown Here Comes The Pain deserves a remake

1) Unmatched quality despite being two decades old

Two decades have passed since SmackDown Here Comes The Pain came out, and during that time WWE has had over 30 games across various consoles. Despite having such a long list of titles, they have been unable to recreate the hype and love that the community had for SmackDown Here Comes The Pain. This title brought a lot of innovation in the form of unlockable characters, WWE legends, new match modes and a whole new grappling system.
Moreover, the career mode in this title felt incredibly fulfilling and allowed you to pick almost any character. There aren’t many sports games that have been able to match the quality of Here Comes The Pain in the past two decades, and that alone makes it worthy of a modern remake.

2) Here Comes The Pain has aged poorly

SmackDown Here Comes The Pain was developed by Yuke’s and published by THQ back in 2003. The technology at that time was limited, and 3D graphics felt very choppy and artificial. Moreover, the quality of animations in games back in 2003 cannot even be compared to how good it is in 2024.Because of this, Here Comes The Pain has aged poorly. While it is still an excellent game for something that came out in 2003, it cannot hold a candle to how good video games look and feel in 2024. So a modern remake is exactly what is needed to give SmackDown Here Comes The Pain a new lease on life.

3) WWE is at the peak of its popularity

Right now, WWE is the biggest it has been, especially in terms of their social media interactions. Even WrestleMania XL was the biggest WM of all time. The wrestling community is absolutely thriving and continues to grow as stars like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, John Cena and many more pave the way for a new generation. With all kinds of new fans coming in, this is the perfect time for WWE to remake a classic game like Here Comes The Pain. A modern remake of their best title ever will be great from a financial standpoint and will also help the company grow their audience. A modern day SmackDown Here Comes The Pain surely feels like the need of the hour and there have been reports of something being in the works for a few years now. Hopefully, a new generation of wrestling fans will also get to experience the quality of this game in the future. Also Read: All WWE finishers in Call of Duty
