US Open 2023: Dominic Thiem back on track

Dominic Thiem won his first Grand Slam match in more than two years on Monday and world No.27 Alexander Bublik wasn’t smiling. The 2020 US Open champion, who hadn’t won a major match since Melbourne 2021, put out the Kazakh 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
“I’m f@*k*@g sick of getting all these disabled people back in their career,” Bublik apparently ranted in Russian.
“I don’t know if the translation is right,” said Thiem, one of the nicest characters on Tour. “If it is, then it’s something you shouldn’t say in general just out of respect (for your opponent). But maybe he didn’t mean it that way.”
Holger Rune not amused Holger Rune took to social media to direct fans to his first-round match scheduled on Court No.5.
“In case you find it,” he tweeted along with the site map. The world No.4 was bounced out by Roberto Carballes Baena. “I was not happy when I saw the schedule, but I saw the schedule on Friday so I had time to recover from it,” Rune said.
Myneni-Karatsev duo makes main draw India’s Saket Myneni and Russian Aslan Karatsev, who made the men’s doubles draw as alternates, play Serbia’s Laslo Djere and Switzerland’s Marc-Andrea Huesler in the first round. Yuki Bhambri and Brazil’s Marcelo Demoliner play Hugo Nys and Jan Zlelinski.
